Get Your Pool Summer-Ready!

As the temperatures rise, it’s the perfect time to prepare your pool for a season of fun in the sun. Follow these simple steps to make sure your pool is swim-ready.

1. Clean and Inspect

Start by clearing out leaves, debris, and dirt from both the pool and the surrounding areas. Inspect the pool liner, tiles, and equipment for any signs of wear or damage. Don’t forget to clean the skimmer and pump baskets to ensure your filtration system runs smoothly.

2. Balance Your Water Chemistry

Test the water’s pH, chlorine, and alkalinity levels. If needed, shock the pool to eliminate bacteria and algae. You may also want to add an algaecide as a preventative measure.

3. Check Pool Equipment

Inspect your pump, filter, and heater to make sure they’re in good working order. Clean or replace the filter as needed and check all hoses and connections for any leaks or cracks.

4. Review Pool Safety

Safety first! Ensure that ladders, railings, and pool covers are properly secured. If there are children in your household, double-check that pool fences and gates are locked, functional, and up to code.

5. Schedule a Pool Inspection

If you've recently installed a new pool, don’t forget to schedule an inspection. Contact Fort Bend County MUD 116’s operator, Si Environmental, at 832-490-1600 to set up your appointment and ensure you comply with local regulations.
